There was no difference found in the progress of those students who revised while listening to music with lyrics whether they liked or disliked. Both prompted a decrease in their test performance.
Students who revised in complete silence with no music rated their environment less disturbing and precisely anticipated this would turned better performance in the tests.
There are some benefits of listening music limited to performing some specific tasks. Music not only alters your mood but also found to be motivational in some situations.
