Julie Plec on What’s Next for The Vampire Diaries Season 5 via Post-Mortems

Check out the post-mortem interviews with Julie Plec from E!Online, TV Guide, TVLine, Zap2It and THR. Julie previews what’s to come for season 5 of The Vampire Diaries.

Via E!Online:

Stefan and Damon seem like they are in such a good place right now, so what can you preview coming up for them with this body-swap twist?

They are both ultimately equal victims of Katherine’s diabolical plan and unaware that they are being played, they each have stories and moments with “Elena” that shift the relationship between the brothers, not necessarily in a good way. We’ll have to help them find their way back to each other, if and when the dust settles from when they finally open their eyes wide enough to find out they are being played.

Via TV Guide:

So how long will Katherine prolong her inevitable death by being inside Elena’s body?

Plec: Well I can’t say how long, but I can say that Katherine is one crafty little beyotch so she’s not going to let anything happen that will compromise her identity. So we’ll see how long she succeeds at being able to do that, but my money is on Katherine. She is notoriously pretty good at being Elena Gilbert.

TVLINE | Caroline and Klaus finally acted on their feelings – but it came with the caveat that he would never come back. Are things really over between them? Can Caroline really put this behind her?

I think they can both put it behind them because they both, admittedly, have other lives and other obligations they need to deal with. The thing with Caroline and Klaus is, she’s always been drawn to him and has this deep-rooted attraction to him that scared her… And yet, she wanted this. She was acting on her most base impulses and trying to get something out of her system. For Klaus, of course, it’s something we know that he’s always wanted. But he’s got obligations. He’s got a life that he’s got to get back to in New Orleans, baby on the way and all that stuff.

Via Zap2It:

Should we be worried about the buckets of doppelgänger blood the group of Travelers stole from Stefan and Elena?

I think everybody should be wondering what exactly those Travelers are doing. Clearly the doppelganger blood means something to them and as we get deeper into the season, we’ll start explaining more of that. They’ve got big plans. We’re going to start getting an idea of what’s going on slowly from that.

Via THR:

What are you are looking toward for the remainder of the season and beyond?

We have a lot of stories to tell, which is the good news, so there doesn’t need to be an ultimate end date. I think we will keep going as long as we have good stories to tell and as long as people who work on the show want to stay with us and tell us good stories. When the stories start disintegrating into those pitches that we swore we’d never get to unless we were desperate, then we’ll try to wrap it up. But those decisions come with a lot of people’s input — a lot of people’s opinions so we shall see.
