Julie Plec and Caroline Dries Tease TVD Season 7 at 2015 TCA Summer Press Tour

Deadline, Zap2It and more caught up with the EPs of The Vampire Diaries at the 2015 TCA Summer Press Tour where they spilled Vampire Diaries Season 7 secrets! Will add more as they come in.

via Deadline:

“In terms of the show focusing on a single character, we are going to shift from that” said Plec adding “we finally have an opportunity to show off the ensamble and make them feel more like the stars of their own show”

She also divulged on the three new characters that were teased about at this year’s comic con. “The heretics, we call them… the three girls are Nora, Mary Louise and Valeria, and they are all amongst Lily’s little coven of family who she was stuck in the prison world with. She describes them as magnificent, fierce, and wildly nasty. One of the interesting sub-plots involve Mary Louise and Nora who, coming from the 19th and 20th century, have not been able to openly expressed their love for each other.  After missing out on the sexual revolution era, the two ladies are introduced to a more expecting time where they don’t have to hide their affection.

When asked what excites her about next season, other then the heretics, Plec reveals “there’s a real curveball coming in our story about seven episodes in that none of us expected to do… it’s different than anything that we’ve done. Also, we’re playing with time in a way that we don’t usually do, which is adding to the fun of the narratives … some flashbacks, a few flash forwards… there’s some fun to be had.”

Elena (Nina Dobrev) might be gone on “The Vampire Diaries,” but that doesn’t mean Damon (Ian Somerhalder) is going to be any less in love with her in Season 7. Showrunner Caroline Dries says this year is going to involve Damon learning who he is when he’s not in a relationship, but there are no plans for him to move on from his longtime love.

“I don’t like it when shows like ‘Felicity,’ which I watched every episode of, but she was defined by who she was dating. Our show kind of became that,” Dries tells Zap2it at CBS’s 2015 summer TV press tour party. “Obviously Damon is madly in love with Elena, but what else do we know about him? Not a ton.”

One of Season 7’s goals will be learning about Damon and what he does in his spare time. “Bringing in his mom [Lily] this season is going to shine some new light on new layers of his personality,” Dries says. “He’s an interesting person.”
