Wow…it’s hard to believe that a year ago, my sister Allison created her first post on this blog. She knew then when she decided to create a fansite dedicated to The Vampire Diaries, that she would have a hit on her hands. At the time, I had not been a participant. She was on her own, but come July, when she decided to go back to work full time, I took the reins and ran with it! And I would like to say, it has been one of the best things I’ve ever done in my entire life. Through this amazing fandom, I have made so many wonderful connections and friends. And I would like to thank each and every one of you (you know who you are) for waltzing in to my life. Your friendship will be forever cherished.
At VDO, we would also like to thank the cast and crew of this phenomenal television show. To Julie Plec, Kevin Williamson, Barbie Kligman and Bryan Young for their amazing writing and Marcos Siega, the show would be nothing without you. Thank you for having faith and supporting our site in it’s early stages, and following us on Twitter. To all of the cast that has supported our site, Katerina Graham, Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, Candice Accola and Zach Roerig. You guys either follow us on Twitter or have expressed to us personally you follow the website, and we would like to thank you from the bottom of our heart. It means so much to have your support!
Finally, to all of our subscribers, Twitter followers, Facebook and Myspace fans! We love you guys soooo much! Thank you so much for your amazing support, and all of the tips you guys send us. We try to do our best to credit each and every one of you and also give you guys a platform to express your love for the show or for a particular character by allowing guest posts, posting fanmade videos, etc. As I’ve said before, this website is for THE FANS, and it would be nothing without you.
Well, I originally had something planned for this day. Back in January, when I attended the Hot Topic cast tour event in Atlanta, I had made the decision to give away my signed poster from the entire cast in a contest that would be held on this day. But I came across someone on Twitter who mentioned to me in conversation that she had hers stolen from her. She had given the poster to her husband during the Q&A event for safe keeping, and someone literally snatched the poster from his hands and ran with it. Well, of course, my heart went out to her, she had no idea my plans for the poster, so I told her I would be happy to give her mine. A sacrifice I did not hesitate to make. It made me so happy to be able to do something like that for someone, and I would do it again in a heartbeat.
We do plan on having a contest eventually, hopefully I’ll be able to conjure up something good for you guys! Until then, just know, that I am so honored to be a part of this website and this fandom and look forward to many years of supporting one of the most amazing television shows on the CW!
