Vampire-Diaries.net has written an excellent article titled Vampire Lore 101.  In this piece they break down all the different characteristics of the vampires in The Vampire Diaries book series by L.J Smith.  It’s an excellent and well written read and answers all the questions you may have about the Vampires of TVD before getting into the TV series.  And in case you’re wondering…these vamps don’t sparkle. ;-)

Twilight and vampire diaries are so much different. Stephanie meyers vamps sparkle when they go out in the sunlight and lj smiths vamps dnt have to worry about sparkling they have a ring that protects them in the sunlight. Oh yeah and p.s. Team bonnie/elena:)

I am a big fan of The Vampire Diaries Series, But I want to know why Elena isn’t a blonde like she is in the book? And why Stefan has a picture of Katherine with the date reading 1864? That doesn’t add up, because when She has Damon, Elena, and Stefan in crypt, Stefan said she was dead 500 years ago, and earlier he told Elena that he and Damon where born in the late 15th century.

So how can you have a brunette 200 year old Katherine and brunette Elena?!? It ruins everything.
