Via E!Online on Jeremy becoming an annoying little gnat:
“Jeremy goes from cowering in the corner to an annoying little gnat,” he laughs. “There’s always something going on, and Jeremy is curious and quick-witted. He has strength of will that most people don’t have. And I feel like a gnat because I’m very involved in the situation and I usually cause trouble.”
So, Jeremy isn’t exactly arming himself with sawed-off shotguns and hopping on motorcycles to battle evil vampires, but Steven would be more than happy to take on that kind of role. “I’m not against that idea by any means!” he says excitedly. “That’s up to [show runners] Kevin [Williamson] and Julie [Plec]. Of course I’d love to get a sawed-off shotgun and put my kickboxing training to good use and go for it. But at the end of the day, that’s not my call to make.”
Via Buddy TV on Steven’s favorite part of working on The Vampire Diaries and similarities he shares with Jeremy:
What is your favorite part about working on The Vampire Diaries?
Steven R. McQueen: I love playing Jeremy as a character. He’s very complex. He struggled with addiction and has worked on becoming his own self. That parallels a little bit with my life, I’ve been in AA for a while now, so the role has been therapeutic as well as fun to portray.
What other similarities do you share with Jeremy?
Steven R. McQueen: I’ve got a couple of loose screws upstairs myself [laughs]. Jeremy’s at times are more lost than anyone’s ever have been. Jeremy’s lost his parents, two girls he’s loved; he’s seen people die all around him. He’s a much darker version of myself. Not that I’m all that light [laughs].
Via EW on the impact Uncle John might have on Jeremy:
What impact will Uncle John’s return have on Jeremy?
“Jeremy and Uncle John’s relationship is as complicated as they come,” he says. “One half of him is interested in Uncle John. He knows more about his father than Jeremy does, and Jeremy’s just finding out that his father was involved in this whole vampire-hunting world. He’s also involved in this family legacy that I’m supposed to follow. The other half of Jeremy doesn’t believe vampires are such bad people. He’s friends with some and was in love with another — and Uncle John killed her. He’s pulled in two different directions. I think at some point Jeremy is going to be trained in the art of vampire-hunting. Whether that’s Uncle John or Alaric has yet to be seen.”
Via Zap2It on Jeremy sacrificing himself for Bonnie and Elena, and where the relationship with Luka stands:
McQueen has his fingers crossed that Bonnie and Elena won’t be put in the situation where one of them must sacrifice their life for the other. “It’s definitely a possibility, but I don’t think Jeremy could handle that,” he says. “I think, come what may, Jeremy would sacrifice himself before he’d let anything hurt Bonnie or Elena.”
You hear that, Luka (Bryton James)? If you try to mess with Bonnie any more, Jeremy’s coming for you. “Damn right!” McQueen says. “Damn right. Nobody’s messing with Jeremy’s girl. He’s pretty defensive with Luka right now, but we can expect to see things even out a little bit with them coming up.”
