Digital Spy caught up with The Vampire Diaries stars Kat Graham, Candice Accola and Steven R. McQueen while they were doing press in the UK.

Part One

Part Two

Last week, several of The Vampire Diaries cast members spent some time in London for a WB press junket, and while there AOLTV‘s Laura Prudom caught up with Kat Graham, Candice Accola and Steven R. McQueen where they discussed what’s in store for season 3. Also mentioned was a tentative air date for the season premiere, September 8th, 2011.

Here, Candice Accola points out what makes The Vampire Diaries so successful:

“I think it really just comes down to the writing, the fact that we’re going into our third season and everyone collectively on the cast and the crew is constantly begging to know what’s going to happen next. Our department heads have strict directions not to show us any scripts until they’re finalized because we’re constantly always asking to know what’s going to happen next. I mean, granted to know if we’re still alive, but it’s just an entertaining show that the writers do a great job with. That and the fans.”

Kat Graham & Steven R. McQueen talk about Jeremy’s new ability, Bonnie and Jeremy’s romance and how the fans have received it:

Even though Jeremy will be facing fresh challenges with his newfound abilities, McQueen and Graham don’t see the twist as a sign that trouble is ahead for Jeremy and Bonnie. “I don’t know if the whole seeing dead people thing will affect that [relationship],” McQueen confessed. “But at the end, Bonnie admits her love for him. I don’t see them pulling apart at any time soon, I see things hopefully growing stronger.”

“At first I think they were a little shocked by it, they were like, ‘wait — they grew up together and all of a sudden they like each other?’ It was a slow boil,” she admitted. “There was the awkward sexual tension in the beginning and the fans, by the end of it, were really rooting for the characters to get together. They went on the journey with us, I think.”

“And she couldn’t help herself,” McQueen teasingly interjected.

“Yeah, Jeremy makes Bonnie weak in the knees,” Graham laughed.

This morning Candice Accola and Steven R. McQueen stopped by WGN Morning News in Chicago. Check out the video below. Thanks to Vampire-Diaries.net for the heads up.

Today a buttload of interviews with Steven R. McQueen surfaced on the net. And more are to come! E!Online, BuddyTV, EW and Zap2It all got a moment with Steven today, and we would like to thank them for getting these up in such a timely manner. So be sure and follow the links to head on over to read each interview!

Via E!Online on Jeremy becoming an annoying little gnat:

“Jeremy goes from cowering in the corner to an annoying little gnat,” he laughs. “There’s always something going on, and Jeremy is curious and quick-witted. He has strength of will that most people don’t have. And I feel like a gnat because I’m very involved in the situation and I usually cause trouble.”

So, Jeremy isn’t exactly arming himself with sawed-off shotguns and hopping on motorcycles to battle evil vampires, but Steven would be more than happy to take on that kind of role. “I’m not against that idea by any means!” he says excitedly. “That’s up to [show runners] Kevin [Williamson] and Julie [Plec]. Of course I’d love to get a sawed-off shotgun and put my kickboxing training to good use and go for it. But at the end of the day, that’s not my call to make.”

Via Buddy TV on Steven’s favorite part of working on The Vampire Diaries and similarities he shares with Jeremy:

What is your favorite part about working on The Vampire Diaries?

Steven R. McQueen: I love playing Jeremy as a character. He’s very complex. He struggled with addiction and has worked on becoming his own self. That parallels a little bit with my life, I’ve been in AA for a while now, so the role has been therapeutic as well as fun to portray.

What other similarities do you share with Jeremy?

Steven R. McQueen: I’ve got a couple of loose screws upstairs myself [laughs]. Jeremy’s at times are more lost than anyone’s ever have been. Jeremy’s lost his parents, two girls he’s loved; he’s seen people die all around him. He’s a much darker version of myself. Not that I’m all that light [laughs].

Via EW on the impact Uncle John might have on Jeremy:

What impact will Uncle John’s return have on Jeremy?

“Jeremy and Uncle John’s relationship is as complicated as they come,” he says. “One half of him is interested in Uncle John. He knows more about his father than Jeremy does, and Jeremy’s just finding out that his father was involved in this whole vampire-hunting world. He’s also involved in this family legacy that I’m supposed to follow. The other half of Jeremy doesn’t believe vampires are such bad people. He’s friends with some and was in love with another — and Uncle John killed her. He’s pulled in two different directions. I think at some point Jeremy is going to be trained in the art of vampire-hunting. Whether that’s Uncle John or Alaric has yet to be seen.”

Via Zap2It on Jeremy sacrificing himself for Bonnie and Elena, and where the relationship with Luka stands:

McQueen has his fingers crossed that Bonnie and Elena won’t be put in the situation where one of them must sacrifice their life for the other. “It’s definitely a possibility, but I don’t think Jeremy could handle that,” he says. “I think, come what may, Jeremy would sacrifice himself before he’d let anything hurt Bonnie or Elena.”

You hear that, Luka (Bryton James)? If you try to mess with Bonnie any more, Jeremy’s coming for you. “Damn right!” McQueen says. “Damn right. Nobody’s messing with Jeremy’s girl. He’s pretty defensive with Luka right now, but we can expect to see things even out a little bit with them coming up.”

The TV Chick had a chance to visit the set of The Vampire Diaries back in December, and today she has posted the first of many TVD interviews to come! She had a chance to sit down with Steven R. McQueen for a nice chat. See what Steven had to say about Jeremy and Bonnie, and his relationship with Elena.

Yeah, she was fantastic. But now there’s this budding thing with Bonnie and Jeremy, so where is that going to go? What might we see coming up?

(laughs) The Bonnie/Jeremy storyline was very unexpected. But when it happened, our chemistry was so great and ended up working so well that it obviously can’t be jumped right into because she’s friends with my sister and stuff like that. But I feel like it comes from such a pure place. It’s been fun.

Are we going to see more of a love triangle with Luka?

Yes.

Some jealousy perhaps?

The love triangle definitely goes on. I’m hoping Jeremy will prevail.

Team Jeremy! And how is his relationship with Elena going to continue to develop?

I think Jeremy was at the young, fighting the world, everyone’s against me point (laughs) but now he’s found out about this new world and he’s got his head screwed on a little straighter and he wants to protect his sister now, more than anything. More than saying “You’ve done this and this and hurt me this way.” It’s just like, alright, I get all that, I’m just here to protect my sister and kind of get more involved in this world.
