Lots of cast interviews hit the web yesterday and today. Several from Ian Somerhalder, Michael Trevino, Candice Accola and even a small tidbit from Paul Wesley. Tonight on The Vampire Diaries it’s all about Tyler’s werewolf transformation and the anticipated “tomb sex”. Also The Vampire Diaries clocks in at #3 on E!Online’s Top 10 Dramas of 2010 and #5 on Buddy TV’s Top 10 of ’10 Best Shows of the Year. So congrats to the cast and crew of the most awesome show on television!

Wetpaint Exclusive from Paul Wesley:

“There’s a big werewolf aspect coming to the show, which I think is going to be a really big deal. They’re bringing in supporting characters. There are a lot of sort of supporting cast coming in and guest stars that are going to be pretty pivotal.”

Among the new faces will be an actor cast as Klaus, the as-yet-unseen mysterious, malevolent manipulator who emerged as the central villain of author L.J. Smith’s novel series that inspired the show. “We don’t know who’s going to be playing Klaus, but that’s going to be a huge thing,” says Wesley. “He’s going to be the big, evil bad guy ,and we’re all really, really interested to see who they’re going to cast because we think it’s going to be a pretty big deal.”

More from Ian Somerhalder Interview With Hollywood Crush:

He’s in major protection mode right now, and he’ll do anything for that little Elena.” Swoon.

That apparently includes rescuing Stefan (Paul Wesley) from the tomb. While the old Damon would have totally taken advantage of having Elena to himself, the new Damon isn’t putting his needs first.

“It would seem as though Stefan in this cave away from Elena stuck with Katherine is exactly where he’d want him to be, but he wants to get his brother out of there. I can’t imagine being stuck in there with her,” Ian said. “He needs him. He needs his brother. There are some elements coming to town that are highly problematic to them and that pose a serious danger to everything that Damon loves, and it’s a tough time for him.”

Zap2It Interview (Video) With Ian, Michael and Candice:

“Last year, Tyler would show up, get into a fight, and then leave for a few episodes,” Trevino says. While we’re sure those choreographed brawl scenes had their merits, this season, he gets to stretch the limits of his talent and training as an actor.

In fact, the transformation was Trevino’s most challenging experience as an actor. “By far,” he says. “In all the TV stuff that I’ve done, guest stars and recurring, the two days of shooting the transformation scene by far was the hardest, most challenging I’ve ever done.”

Candice Accola Interview with Jim Halterman:

JH: As an actor, you’re getting to really dive into Caroline this season. She’s really so much more than just the bitchy girl after all, right?

CA: That’s the exciting part when a show has the opportunity to go into multiple seasons and, as an actor, you get to ride along on a journey with your character. It’s been a very exciting season so far. The trials and tribulations that Caroline has had to endure has been a wonderful experience as an actor to learn from, as well. It’s been a very meaty season for Caroline.

Candice Accola Inteview with Entertainment Weekly:

Where will Tyler and Caroline’s friendship go post-transformation?

The biggest thing to remember is that Caroline has been lying to Tyler. So even though there has been a really wonderful friendship that’s grown, it’s based off of lies to protect him and those around him. He thinks that she’s the only vampire town. He doesn’t know that werewolves can kill vampires. There are lot of things that she’s kept in the dark from him, and secrets don’t stay secrets in Mystic Falls very long. When that comes out, that’s going to affect their relationship, for sure.

More of the interview with Candice Accola and Michael Trevino is up over at Zap2It. The discuss the Tyler/Werewolf transformation.

When Mason (Taylor Kinney) transformed into a werewolf, we only got to see the before and after. We watched as he attempted to take sedatives and chain himself up, and we heard him scream in agony… but most of the transformation occurred after he’d climbed into his truck, out of sight. When Tyler transforms, we’re going to see the whole thing.

“You’re gonna get the whole enchilada,” Trevino confirms. “It’s not quick. It isn’t something that just happens; it’s ongoing, especially because it’s his first transformation.”

Kristin Dos Santos of E!Online has a chance to catch up with Candice Accola and Michael Trevino and takes a stab at the popular question these days, “Will Caroline and Tyler hook up?” Do they deliver or is the question dodged again? See for yourself! Thanks to Candice Accola Web for the heads up!

Vlada Gelman (@stayingin) had a chance to chat with Candice Accola in this piece from the Los Angeles Times Showtracker about Caroline and Tyler’s relationship and whether it will become “something more”.

There are hints that Tyler and Caroline’s friendship is something more. Are we going to see them develop a romance?

A lot of great romances can grow from friendship. Of course, there’s definitely a possibility of that. Whether or not that’s going to happen, I don’t know. We’re not that much farther ahead of the audience. So I really don’t know. I know that … Caroline’s the only one that knows what Tyler’s been going through, so that friendship isn’t just going to go away. There’s something there. Whether that turns into a romantic relationship or whether it turns into a really beautiful support system for one another, who knows. The fans will just have to stay tuned and watch.

Romance or friendship-wise, do you think they’re doomed in a way since vampires and werewolves are historically enemies?

It’s definitely got a Romeo and Juliet quality to it, the idea of them becoming romantic. Who knows? That didn’t end very well with Romeo and Juliet. [Laughs] Hopefully, it wouldn’t be that same result for Caroline and Tyler. I don’t know. Really, right now, the most prominent thing going on between both of them is finding a safe place for Tyler to transform. It’s really about his transformation right now. It’s not about anything else, which I think is such a wonderful thing because, for Caroline, any involvement with a member of the opposite sex was immediately sexual throughout the first season. It was immediately like crush-worthy. It wasn’t just like a friendship. I think it’s just a lovely way of showing that she as a character has grown within the second season. It’s more than just about a boy I immediately have to have a crush on. It’s a friendship. It’s something a little bit more substantial.
