TV Fanatic was on the set of The Vampire Diaries recently. Check out what Candice Accola had to say about tonight’s episode!

“They’ve cut all romance from the show,” Accola joked before delving into the aftermath of her character’s awkward discussion with Stefan on The Vampire Diaries Season 6 Episode 7.

“Normally, she likes to cover it up and pretend everything is fine, so we’ll see a little bit of that,” Accola said about how she’ll respond to essentially being rejected last Thursday night, adding:

“Caroline is very much still embarrassed at having realized her feelings and she’s found the only way to deal with it is to say what she said last episode: ‘I hate you… because if I don’t hate you, I’d hate myself.’ That’s gonna be a theme carried out over the next couple episodes.”

We have several interviews coming through today from Nina Dobrev, Candice Accola and more. First up Nina Dobrev chats with The Hollywood Reporter, and Candice Accola talks with Alloy Entertainment. We’ll post more as they come in.

Nina Dobrev via THR:

The Vampire Diaries ended on an emotional note last year with Damon and Bonnie’s deaths and even with several months to grieve, Elena hasn’t been dealing with her losses well. What’s her mindset like at the start of the season?

It’s eerily happy, unconventionally so, and confusing for a lot of people — for her, for her friends and for the audience. She’s not really dealing with it. She’s sort of masking it and pretending that it never happened in a way. It’s a ticking time bomb. She’s just delaying the inevitable. It’s not healthy and it hurts people around her and it makes her do things that she probably wouldn’t otherwise. It’s like a drug addiction. She goes off the deep end.

Candice Accola via Alloy Entertainment:

Alloy Entertainment: A lot of fans, myself included, have been inspecting the TVD Season 6 poster in closer detail and it’s interesting to note that Caroline is not only alone but also the only individual who’s lying on the ground. There’s a mesmerizing yet uncharacteristically dark quality to her in this moment. That being said, what are your thoughts on Caroline going rogue and perhaps becoming the new ‘Big Bad’ on the show?

Candice Accola: Yea! I would love that. I think that would be a really interesting transformation — to see a sunshiney character such as Caroline accept her bad side. And, honestly, that seems like a natural progression for anyone as they age and grow into adulthood. Everyone has good and evil inside of them, and it’s all about finding your own moral compass and achieving a balance in your ability to control both of those. You know? You don’t want to be so nice and so welcoming that you are just constantly taken advantage of, but you also don’t want to be so guarded and so defensiveness that you just shut everyone out. Caroline in particular has been pushing away her natural sense of vampirism since Season 2; she is so obsessed with keeping a tight rein on it that the only way she’ll ever be able to find her true footing is to lose control completely…at least for a little while. We’ll see where the writers take it but I think it would be wonderful to see her go through those struggles and emotions

Julie Plec Reveals what our characters will be up to via E!Online:

Vampire Diaries this season is so fun and fresh and so exciting to write,” Plec said. “All the characters are going through all this crazy stuff that is really deeply rooted in their own emotional experience. Stefan [Paul Wesley] is making all these choices about what kind of life he wants to live next and it doesn’t necessarily involve anybody that he already knows. Caroline [Candice Accola] is really struggling with the fact that her friends are scattered and she can’t even go home and sleep in her own bed. Tyler’s [Michael Trevino] human again and is terrified that he’s going to do something to trigger his curse. Alaric [Matt Davis] is back teaching! And we’re dealing with the fact that he had to come back and start his live over but he doesn’t really feel comfortable in his own vampire skin.”

Nina Dobrev via TVLine on why Stefan and Elena are holding hands in the new promotional image:

TVLINE | OK, I won’t make you. But I do want to ask why Elena and Stefan are holding hands on the Season 6 poster.

Wouldn’t you like to know! All of our characters go on a journey this season; Damon and Bonnie have disappeared, which is why they’re holding hands, so Stefan and Elena have to take the lead and save the day. They’re left to pull through and grieve the people they’ve lost.

TVLINE | So it’s more of a supportive hand-holding thing?

I mean … you never know where they’re going, honestly. We’re shooting Episode 8 right now, so we still have over half the season to film. Anything could happen. As of right now, it’s more of a support thing.

No Exit

Collider caught up with Candice Accola. Here she talks the Season Finale and Travelers mythology.

What was your reaction, when you read the finale script?

ACCOLA:  It’s a finale.  For anyone that’s been a dedicated viewer of the show, they know what the writers put into the finale, and this is on par with the finales of the past.

Especially with the Travelers’ leader, Markos, coming, and with Luke and Liv, is there anyone Caroline should be most worried about in these last few episodes?

ACCOLA:  Any way I try to answer that, I’m going to get in trouble.  Over the next few episodes, we’re gonna see all of our favorite characters really team up together.  You’re going to see all of the dots start connecting.  We’re going to get a further education on the mythology of the Travelers and you’ll learn how, in the grand scheme of things, it will affect everyone.

Total Eclipse of the Heart

TV Guide caught up with Candice Accola. She talks Tyler and Caroline and her recent hook-up with Klaus!

Klaus and Caroline finally had sex — hot sex. Were you happy they went there?
Candice Accola:
Yes. When I get very into a storyline as a TV viewer and want something to happen so bad and there’s so much build-up, it’s exciting to watch. To my knowledge, the writers never had any intention of bringing those two together, especially with the spin-off, so I think it was a great moment and I think the whole 100th episode was written with the viewers in mind to give them what they wanted.

It’s always a hot topic. Did you receive negative feedback about it?
Accola:
I’ve never gotten any sort of negative feedback, but people would say, “I want Tyler and Caroline to be together, but I want her and Klaus to just do it once.” So it was great to know it was going to happen and people would get what they asked for.

Can Caroline and Tyler recover from this?
Accola:
Do I think they can come back from Caroline’s time with Klaus? I don’t think so. On paper, no one did anything wrong. They were broken up. No one cheated. But it’s personal. When you cross those lines and those boundaries, I would find it pretty impossible to be in a relationship and then be able to come back from that.
