Buddy TV has posted a major spoiler about tomorrow night’s episode. I almost feel guilty about posting this, because I know how hard it is to resist spoilers like this, but then another part of me feels guilty if I don’t post it, for those that don’t mind the spoilers. I’ll give you a little hint as to what the spoiler is about, as my friend Shira points out, “It tells you something that happens, but not who it happens to.” So if that’s something you think you can handle knowing, click “Show” to view the spoiler.

In the season 2 premiere, at least one major character dies. That’s all you’re getting, and it should leave you with plenty of questions.
Is it more than one person? Is the death permanent? Does the death or deaths have anything to do with the cliffhangers from last season, or was that just misdirection?
Season 1 left several characters in peril. Jeremy took an overdose of pills trying to kill himself to turn into a vampire. Caroline was seriously injured in a car accident. Jonathan was stabbed by Katherine. However, this is The Vampire Diaries, so none of those circumstances necessarily lead to death.
To help you out, here’s a list of characters I consider to be major:
Damon
Stefan
Katherine
Elena
Jeremy
Jenna
Jonathan
Alaric
Isobel
Bonnie
Tyler
Mrs. Lockwood
Caroline
Sheriff Forbes
Matt
Mrs. Donovan

Vampire Diaries scoop, please! — Micah
MICKEY: We’ll learn pretty quickly how Jeremy and Caroline fare in their stare-downs with the Grim Reaper, but the answers won’t be simple… or permanent. Also: The premiere (Thursday, 8/7c, CW) features a devastating scene between Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder. I’ll leave it up to you to guess which character Dobrev is playing in it.

I think it might be katherine
Because we see very little of her in other episode stills and plot lines
There wouldn’t be a point to killing Katherine off in the first episode, there’s been such a build up, I think she’ll stick around.. People want to see Katherine!
I’m thinking Caroline may become a vamp… ah!
i think damons going to kill katherine just as a sort of “fuck you bitch”. maybe she tries to hurt elena and thats why he kills her??

Remember when Nina tweeted “Just shot one of the most intense scenes w/ @iansomerhalder. Wow. Season 2 premiere is going to blow you all away!”? I think Damon is going to kill Katherine. It doesn’t look like she appears in any other episodes after The Return.
I bet Caroline is turned into a vampire… or Katherine dies. Those are the only two I can think of right now. It will be interesting to see…
Oh and Katherine says “kiss me or kill me” to Damon in the year of the Kat promo.

At TV Guide, Julie Plec teases the various facets and players of Season 2, including Caroline, the Lockwood werewolves, the Bennett witches, Jeremy, and of course Katherine:
At first blush, Katherine’s master plan has an anarchical glee. “Why not go back into town and mess with your ex-boyfriend, or in this case, two of them?” Dobrev says. Eventually though, both Plec and Dobrev say that her true mission will be revealed. It promises to be a season-long journey, as Dobrev indicates that Katherine is a woman of mystery. “She’s not going to give it all up and nor does she need to because she calls the shots,” she says. “Everyone is and should be very scared of her.”
I’m feeling Katherine, because we see none of her in the synopsis for the next few episodes or pics. As well, in a previous interview it was said that Damon will do something unexpected at the end of the premiere. Didn’t he kill Katherine in the books? I agree with the ‘trying to harm Elena so he’ll come to her rescue’ idea. No matter who it is, the show will be fantastic. I’m sooooo excited!!!
When is season 2 of vampire diairies starting here in SA.
