The Devil Inside

The Wall Street Journal caught up with Paul Wesley to discuss is upcoming directorial debut. Check out what Paul had to say about the experience!

Speakeasy: So you’ve acted, produced and now directed – are you positioning yourself as a triple threat?

Paul Wesley: I hate to say it, but I think I enjoy directing on “Vampire Diaries” more than acting on Vampire Diaries. I mean don’t get me wrong, I really love acting on the show, but there was just something about directing that really spoke to me and it’s really something I always envisioned myself doing.

I never really thought I would be a TV director. I always thought surely I’ll have directed my first feature by now, but that hasn’t happened because I’ve obviously been preoccupied for the last half decade filming “Vampire Diaries.”  So the feature is coming soon, but this was a good start and I’ve got to tell you it’s really amazing to work with a polished crew and with amazing people supporting you. It was a great way to get started, I can tell you that much.

And here Paul teases The Vampire Diaries Season 5 finale and season 6.

And now, I have to ask, can you give fans any sneak peaks of the last part of season five?

I read the finale and it ends on a really interesting note. I guess you could say some of the main characters, something happens to them that is. Season five ends on a note of ambiguity in that you really don’t know what is going to happen in season six because people sort of …a very mysterious fate takes two of our main characters.

Her role as the anchor to the “other side” is about to get extra-complicated — and possibly fatal! “We raise the question, ‘Can you even kill Bonnie? What would happen?’” executive producer Caroline Dries tells me. Fortunately, there will be strong motivation to keep Bonnie alive. “When she’s in danger, the whole other side is in jeopardy, so it’s a big deal to keep her safe,” Dries says.
