TVLine and TV Guide had a chance to talk with EP, Caroline Dries about last night’s episode, and she answers some of our burning questions and what’s to come next week!

Via TVLine:

MAN ABOUT TOWN | Thriving in a supernatural-less Mystic Falls, Matt has found a “father figure” in Colin Ferguson’s community protection leader Tripp. But this being The Vampire Diaries, “not everyone is who they say they want to be,” the EP warns. “But he’ll ultimately become an interesting layered, dynamic character that’s not necessarily a good guy or bad guy. He actually represents a normal person’s point of view on the whole vampire world.” As for Matt’s roommate, Jeremy, “he’s going to try to find some meaning in these first few episodes,” Dries says. “But he hasn’t hit his rock bottom.” Yikes.

Via TV Guide:

With Stefan and Damon gone, is the love triangle gone too?
Dries: I can tease we definitely keep the love stories alive. They may not play out in a traditional way, but they’ll feel very satisfying. I think it’s done in a way that feels fresh for a show in Season 6 that has had the same characters and this love triangle for a long time. I don’t really call it a triangle because Stefan has become more of a soul friend to Elena, but those two are still very connected. It’s more how do we maintain Damon and Elena’s love story while he’s not present? I think we do a cool job of it.

Check out the extended preview for next week’s episode “Yellow Ledbetter”. Can. Not. Wait.

Wow! Tonight’s Vampire Diaries Season 6 premiere was awesome! Let me know what you guys thought in the comments, but first, check out the preview for next week’s episode “Yellow Ledbetter”. Will Alaric agree to Elena’s request?

The CW has released the synopsis for episode 6.04 titled “Black Hole Sun”. Spoiler Alert!!

FLASHBACKS TO A TUMULTUOUS TIME IN DAMON’S LIFE – When Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Bonnie (Kat Graham) realize that uncovering a time in Damon’s past may provide clues to finding their way home, Damon is forced to relive one of the worst days of his life.  After an awkward run-in with Jo (guest star Jodi Lyn O’Keefe) at the hospital, Alaric (Matt Davis) steps in to help Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) get his life together and cope with the loss of Bonnie.  Elsewhere, Stefan (Paul Wesley) attempts to show Elena (Nina Dobrev) what it’s like to start over and create a new identity, while an unsuspecting Matt (Zach Roerig) finds himself in a disturbing situation when Tripp (guest star Colin Ferguson) lets him in on a dark secret.  Lastly, Stefan, who is desperate to regain some normalcy in his life, is stunned when an unexpected visitor shows up.  Michael Malarkey also stars.  Kellie Cyrus directed the episode written by Melinda Hsu Taylor & Neil Reynolds (#604).  Original airdate 10/23/2014.

Black Hole Sun

Thanks to ETOnline, we have a first look at Damon and Stefan in the 90’s! Here’s some scoop about the upcoming episode!

Our ’90s time-jump will take place in episode four, which airs Oct. 23, and although we’re thrilled to see the Salvatore brothers reunited, we’re weary of the “tumultuous time” the episode logline reveals: “When Damon and Bonnie realize that uncovering a time in Damon’s past may provide clues to finding their way home, Damon is forced to relive one of the worst days of his life.” Yikes!

Meanwhile in the episode, Stefan is stunned when an unexpected visitor shows up, Elena struggles with post-Damon life, and fans can get excited for a bromantical Alaric and Jeremy moment.

The CW has released a behind-the-scenes look at tonight’s episode with EP’s Julie Plec and Caroline Dries.

We have several interviews coming through today from Nina Dobrev, Candice Accola and more. First up Nina Dobrev chats with The Hollywood Reporter, and Candice Accola talks with Alloy Entertainment. We’ll post more as they come in.

Nina Dobrev via THR:

The Vampire Diaries ended on an emotional note last year with Damon and Bonnie’s deaths and even with several months to grieve, Elena hasn’t been dealing with her losses well. What’s her mindset like at the start of the season?

It’s eerily happy, unconventionally so, and confusing for a lot of people — for her, for her friends and for the audience. She’s not really dealing with it. She’s sort of masking it and pretending that it never happened in a way. It’s a ticking time bomb. She’s just delaying the inevitable. It’s not healthy and it hurts people around her and it makes her do things that she probably wouldn’t otherwise. It’s like a drug addiction. She goes off the deep end.

Candice Accola via Alloy Entertainment:

Alloy Entertainment: A lot of fans, myself included, have been inspecting the TVD Season 6 poster in closer detail and it’s interesting to note that Caroline is not only alone but also the only individual who’s lying on the ground. There’s a mesmerizing yet uncharacteristically dark quality to her in this moment. That being said, what are your thoughts on Caroline going rogue and perhaps becoming the new ‘Big Bad’ on the show?

Candice Accola: Yea! I would love that. I think that would be a really interesting transformation — to see a sunshiney character such as Caroline accept her bad side. And, honestly, that seems like a natural progression for anyone as they age and grow into adulthood. Everyone has good and evil inside of them, and it’s all about finding your own moral compass and achieving a balance in your ability to control both of those. You know? You don’t want to be so nice and so welcoming that you are just constantly taken advantage of, but you also don’t want to be so guarded and so defensiveness that you just shut everyone out. Caroline in particular has been pushing away her natural sense of vampirism since Season 2; she is so obsessed with keeping a tight rein on it that the only way she’ll ever be able to find her true footing is to lose control completely…at least for a little while. We’ll see where the writers take it but I think it would be wonderful to see her go through those struggles and emotions

Julie Plec Reveals what our characters will be up to via E!Online:

Vampire Diaries this season is so fun and fresh and so exciting to write,” Plec said. “All the characters are going through all this crazy stuff that is really deeply rooted in their own emotional experience. Stefan [Paul Wesley] is making all these choices about what kind of life he wants to live next and it doesn’t necessarily involve anybody that he already knows. Caroline [Candice Accola] is really struggling with the fact that her friends are scattered and she can’t even go home and sleep in her own bed. Tyler’s [Michael Trevino] human again and is terrified that he’s going to do something to trigger his curse. Alaric [Matt Davis] is back teaching! And we’re dealing with the fact that he had to come back and start his live over but he doesn’t really feel comfortable in his own vampire skin.”

Nina Dobrev via TVLine on why Stefan and Elena are holding hands in the new promotional image:

TVLINE | OK, I won’t make you. But I do want to ask why Elena and Stefan are holding hands on the Season 6 poster.

Wouldn’t you like to know! All of our characters go on a journey this season; Damon and Bonnie have disappeared, which is why they’re holding hands, so Stefan and Elena have to take the lead and save the day. They’re left to pull through and grieve the people they’ve lost.

TVLINE | So it’s more of a supportive hand-holding thing?

I mean … you never know where they’re going, honestly. We’re shooting Episode 8 right now, so we still have over half the season to film. Anything could happen. As of right now, it’s more of a support thing.

My Brother’s Keeper

TV Guide has six teases from Nina Dobrev about tomorrow night’s season premiere, here’s a preview, then check out the rest over at TV Guide.

Goodbye, Salvatores!

For the first time, viewers will see what Elena is like sans any Salvatores in her life. “I’m excited to see her start this new life in college and see how she copes without the Salvatores and how long that lasts and if it makes her realize that being away from them is good or bad,” Dobrev says. “It’s interesting to see her become her own independent person.”

EW chatted both Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder, check out what they had to say and read the rest over at EW.

As for Damon, he won’t exactly find himself grieving for anyone or anything. As Ian Somerhalder put it, “He’s pissed off. They’re stuck in a place they don’t want to be, and Damon’s fiercely loyal. He feels the need to get back to his family. They’re trying everything. They’re Scooby-Doo-ing that sh– like crazy.”

However, don’t expect Damon and Bonnie’s situation to be devoid of fun. “You never really get to see these two together because they do have a lot of fun together,” he said. “Damon’s a goofy man. He likes to have fun, and Bonnie doesn’t take s–t from anyone anymore. She’s just been hammered for years by all these sort of supernatural elements and she just doesn’t take it anymore. It’s awesome.”

Resident Evil

E!Online, TV Guide and TVLine has some spoilery goodness for us, check it!

Via E!Online’s Spoiler Chat:

Confession: I was the biggest Eureka fan, so I am so excited to see Colin Ferguson on TVD! What can we expect?

Just some male bonding between him and Matt Donovan! “He came about because we wanted to show Matt thriving in Mystic Falls without supernaturals,” EP Caroline Dries previewed of Ferguson’s character, Tripp. “We wanted to give him a father figure, coach-type of guy, so that’s where Tripp come out of.” Of course, this is The Vampire Diaries, so Tripp will have his secrets, but he’ll “ultimately become an interesting, layered, dynamic character that’s not necessarily good guy or bad guy.”

Via TV Guide’s Mega Buzz:

Got any Vampire Diaries scoop for the premiere? — Jenny

While Elena copes with the loss of Damon in her own way, her brother’s grief expresses itself a little differently. Specifically, he’s locking lips with a mysterious new lady who rubs Matt the wrong way.

Any more scoop on Originals-Vampire Diaries crossover? — Lisa

After we heard that Nina Dobrev will be making an appearance as Tatia, we pressed Originals star Joseph Morgan for details. And it sounds like a very juicy flashback involving Tatia, Esther and her two sons. “You’re going to get insight into Klaus and Esther’s relationship, but also Elijah and Esther’s relationship and what happened back then,” Morgan said. “We’re grateful for Nina coming over… so we could tell that story because I think it needed to be told and it definitely informed who the brothers are today.”

Via TVLine’s Ask Ausiello:

Question: I’m still Team Stelena on The Vampire Diaries. Is there any hope? —Allison

Ausiello: Never give up hope, Allison! Elena’s emotions are all over the place in Season 6 and I have it on good authority that her love life is going to be far from dormant. In fact, I hear she’ll be locking lips with a handsome fella in Episode 3 — and his name does not rhyme with Shmamon.

Question: Any intel on Nina Dobrev’s crossover to The Originals?  —Jacob

Ausiello: How’s this intel for you, Jacob? When asked if Tatia’s scenes with Elijah and Klaus would be “steamy,” or if they’d be all talk, Nina Dobrev answered, “A little bit of both, in different capacities. … I’m always going to be in a love triangle. I can’t escape it, so I might as well just accept it.”

Our friends at Alloy Entertainment had a chance to catch up with Michael Malarkey on his upcoming EP release and TVD Season 6. Check out what Michael said we can expect from Enzo and the gang this season!

Alloy Entertainment: Enzo lays the charm on thick whenever Caroline is around. Is he really smitten with her or does he just enjoy her over-the-top reactions to his compliments?

Michael Malarkey: It’s a bit of both I think. I wouldn’t go as far as to say he’s “smitten” but I think he digs her. I mean, he’s an old British vampire who’s been imprisoned for a long time — so a girl like Caroline seems like an alien almost. He’s never met somebody who’s as outgoing and forward as she is. But there’s also an element of her that’s elegant and he appreciates that. She’s one of the characters on the show who never seems to have an ulterior agenda. Caroline wears her heart on her sleeve and she’s quite noble. I think Enzo connects with her on that level, and there seems to be an inkling about a possible connection between the two of them and we’ll have to wait and see if it comes to fruition or not.

Alloy Entertainment: Everyone is focused on Stefan and Elena’s emotional well-being in the aftermath of Damon’s disappearance — which is understandable — but how is Enzo dealing with the grief? Will he recruit a new murder buddy or will the loss of his friend hit him hard?

Michael Malarkey: Well, Enzo is not that fickle that he’ll forget about Damon and move on. Damon is his best bud and the only friend he’s had for seven years — or however many years it’s been, I can’t do math — but he’s not just going to let him die without figuring out what happened first. He wants his buddy back.

Here’s the latest preview clip released from The CW for The Vampire Diaries Season 6 premiere “I’ll Remember”. Only 2 more days!!

The Hollywood Reporter had the opportunity to screen The Vampire Diaries Season 6 premiere, so check out some juicy tidbits from the episode! Then read the rest over at THR! SPOILER ALERT!

What is Alaric’s biggest obstacle? It’s not what you think. After being resurrected from the Other Side, the vampire hunter-turned-vampire sets up shop as a Whitmore College professor of occult studies (of course), a class Elena happens to be enrolled in. But it’s his rustiness in the romance department that gives him the most trouble acclimating to being a part of the living. “One of the problems he’s going to be facing is how to go on a normal date and be a normal guy again,” Dries said, adding that Alaric will have a lot of “emotional baggage” and “internalizes” . That’s where Elena’s new doctor mentor, Jo (Jodi Lyn O’Keefe), comes into play. “She’s going to bring that side out of him,” Dries hinted.
