Vampire Diaries Companion Series In the Works?

Twitter and the web is all a buzz this evening about a potential Vampire Diaries Companion series in “ultra” early stages of development. E!Online‘s Kristin Dos Santos, Deadline and THR all reporting the news!

Via Deadline:

Vampire Diaries co-creator/ executive producer Kevin Williamson is working on a new supernatural drama project, envisioned as a potential companion for the CW’s flagship vampire drama. The untitled project, which is in early stages of development at Warner Bros. TV for the CW, is described as “The X-Files meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer.” It focuses on a group of people who investigate paranormal happenings. I hear that that Williamson’s fellow Vampire Diaries co-creator/executive producer Julie Plec is in talks to come onboard and co-write the project with him.

This sounds really interesting. I’m very excited to hear more information about this potential project! What are you guys thinking? Sounds off in the comments!

  1. Whatever Kevin and Julie do, it will be amazing. I support them and their possible new project.

  2. Agree with @Anna, but I just hope the demand on Kevin and Julie will not take their attention away from The Vampire Diaries. They are phenomenal writers and are bringing the fans a fantastic story for TVD this season.

  3. I agree with GA Peach….too many shows get side-lined by “bigger” ideas. “Alias” was an INCREDIBLE show until the writers did “Lost” and then the “Alias” script went downhill, and all for “Lost” which became an incredible waste of my time.

TVD is the best show I have ever watched. I actually wish they would just focus on it.

  4. I agree with the others… Hope this doesnt distract them away from the awesomeness that is Vampire Diaries…. And it does sound a bit copy cat to Supernatural. Plus if they want to do yet another show I would of rather seen a show about average people not supernatural stuff… Doesnt the CW have enough of those shows? Anyway… whatever they do I will watch cause these two are an amazing team…. Kevin is genious… Miss Dawsons creek!!! Would have loved to seen a show like that for people in their late 20s to mid 30s…. But the CW caters more towards the youth!! I am sure the new show will be fantastic!!!

  5. Sounds like most of us all support Kevin and Julie but are afraid for their attention to be taken away from The Vampire Diaries! They’ve both had outstanding “non-supernatural” shows in the past–just keep TVD going strong!

  6. I am sure that Kevin and Julie would not let TVD suffer as a result of a new show. As long as they continue to have great stories and characters TVD should continue from strength to strength. There are a lot of talented people involved with TVD and I am sure they do not intend for the show to fail.

  7. I’ve got a great take on the show and wanted to touch base with Kevin with a few questions and highlights I wondered about or if he has and overall plans to use that in the series. So I don’t know how I can reach him or email him. Anyways thx and amazing work. Great show
