Ian Somerhalder cast as Damon in The CW’s Vampire Diaries

Variety has just announced that Ian Somerhalder has been cast as Damon in The Vampire Diaries. All I have to say is YES. He’s absolutely gorgeous and I can totally see him as Damon.
Ian Somerhalder, who played Boone on ABC’s hit “Lost,” has joined the cast of the CW’s drama pilot “Vampire Diaries.”
Somerhalder is set to play Damon, a smug vampire who can go from playful to evil in a split second.

I love Ian Somerhalder, he’s gorgeous indeed. I’m really happy for him, this opportunity is certainly a big deal… However, he’s just not Damon for me. I do not see him as a Salvatore at all, so I’ll be praying he’ll fit the “Whitmore kind of Damon”, lol. How do I feel? Both happy and disappointed, yet hopeful.

I know how you feel.. but compared to all the other casting they have done for this show..this is the only saving grace they have accomplished.
He is beautiful. I hopehe can pull it off. Damon is my favorite character. I am almost finished the last book. Simply amazing.

Seriously… THANK YOU! Excellent choice. Ian is amazing & certainly more than able to pull off dark & twisted (see Law & Order: SVU). I’ve long thought he should be cast as a vampire & I’ve no doubt he’ll pull this off. It’ll be epic! Can’t wait to see the show.

I think he will make a good Damon.
Although i could see him as a Whitmore but not as a Salvatore because he doesnt look dark enough. lol
but good choice i hope he doesnt destroy my veiw of Damon
Yes it’s the best choice what they have done but still…he supposed to have not short hair…and dark hair…
I could see playing the role of damon. i think he very handome.
This is the ONLY casting I can fully agree with. I think he does have the looks to pull of Damon. The rest of the cast not even close to the descriptions.
Dude, I like this show even better than Twilight. Haha and this guy has beautiful, pretty, gorgeous eyes! Yeah, but the makeup and different hair for the show makes him look really old and ugly.
