Kami Garcia, best-selling co-author of the Beautiful Creatures series, takes on ghosts in her new paranormal thriller, Unbreakable (out Oct. 1). So who better to narrate the audiobook of Unbreakable than someone very familiar with all things paranormal? Candice Accola, who plays Caroline on TheVampire Diaries, has been tapped to read Garcia’s newest novel. “I can’t begin to describe how exited I am to have Candice Accola reading the audiobook version of Unbreakable, the first book in my new series, the Legion,” Garcia said. “I’m a hugeVampire Diaries fan, and Caroline is by far my favorite character because of Accola’s ability to show vulnerability without ever compromising strength or independence.” Check out this exclusive clip of Accola reading Unbreakable after the jump.

Winnipeg Free Press has a great article on Sara Canning and the director of Sara’s feature film Black Field. She talks about what it was like shooting the Gothic flick and how she had just finished when she got word that The Vampire Diaries had been picked up.
In creating the frontier drama, Esterhazy (who has a BA in history from the University of Winnipeg) steeped herself in the writings of Canadian pioneer women such as Susanna Moodie and Catherine Parr-Traill. “I wanted to get a sense of what their voices were like. Women writing in the 19th century presented a good opportunity to study how women wrote and thought in that period.”
The resulting lead character required Canning to likewise immerse herself in a world where she was obliged to spend much of her work day in wind, rain and mud on a Manitoba prairie. This would be the second time Canning had to rough it in Manitoba, the first being her work on the TV movie Taken in Broad Daylight, in which she played a kidnap victim.
“In that one, we were out in the middle of the night, filming in a ditch,” Canning says with a laugh. “But I really like working that way.
“I really love waking up in the morning, and saying: ‘OK, I’m stepping outside of the hotel right now and stepping into the storybook.’
“It really felt like that every day,” she says. “I remember one night shooting the scene around the campfire with Mathieu (Bourguet) and Ferron (Guerreiro) and myself and looking at them and saying, ‘How cool is this? How odd is this to be actually sitting out here in the middle of a field?’
“It really felt like something from another time. Not a lot of imagination is required,” she says. “Obviously when you’re an actor, you’re always using your imagination, but just to be surrounded and immersed in that world made things so much easier for us.”
Last night The Hollywood Reporter’s HeatWorld reported that Nina Dobrev has been cast in “Deathgames”, a new indie action movie starring Kellan Lutz and Samuel L. Jackson. Thanks to @TeamKatGraham for the heads up! It is suppose to be shot in Louisiana, which everyone knows is just a hop, skip and a jump for me! Here’s the scoop!
UPDATE: The movie has been shooting in Louisiana all this month, and just wrapped.
James Remar, who plays Dexter’s father on Showtime’s “Dexter,” and Derek Mears, who inhabited Jason Vorhees in the recent ”Friday the 13th,” also have been cast in the movie, which is shooting in Louisiana.
The story centers on a young man (Lutz) who is kidnapped and forced into the savage world of a modern gladiator arena, where men fight to the death for entertainment of the online masses in games orchestrated by Jackson.
Dobrev is playing Lutz’s wife.
Dobrev, repped by Innovative Artists and Noble Caplan Abrams Agency in Canada, plays young heroine Elena Gilbert in “Diaries.” Her feature credits include “Chloe,” directed by Atom Egoyan, and Screen Gems’ upcoming thriller “The Roommate” with Leighton Meester.
