Via TV Line:

The Vampire Diaries has cast a face very familiar to The CW viewers — Cassidy Freeman (aka Smallville‘s Tess Mercer) — in a mysterious and delicious-sounding new role, TVLine has learned exclusively.

In the 16th episode of TVD‘s Season 3, Freeman will play Sage, someone who is described as “sexy and fearless, with a devilish smile.” (You don’t say….)

Appearing in flashbacks circa 1912, Sage’s allure is felt by the Salvatore brothers as well as by the Original family. The role is potentially recurring.

Heads up TVD peeps! TV Guide has learned exclusively that The Vampire Diaries has now cast the last two remaining Original siblings! Here’s the scoop!

Get ready to meet Klaus’ other Original brothers on The Vampire Diaries.

British actor Caspar Zafer (La Femme Muskateer)  and Australian actor Nathaniel Buzolic (Out of the Blue)  have been tapped to play the recurring roles of Finn and Kol, respectively, TVGuide.com has learned exclusively. Both brothers have a bone to pick with Klaus (Joseph Morgan), especially since they’ve been locked up in those coffins Klaus has been carting around for so long.

Via E!Online:

Robert Ri’chard (played Mason on Veronica Mars) is taking on the potentially recurring role of Jamie when the hit show returns in January.

Viewers will meet Jamie in episode 12, when Bonnie and Elena (Nina Dobrev) go on a little road trip. Described as handsome (obviously) and a little rough around the edges, Bonnie immediately takes an interest in Jamie. Get it, gurl!

Also set to appear in episode 12? Bonnie’s mother Abby Bennett, who will be played by Girlfriends star Persia White (EW first reported the casting). Coincidence? We think not! We’re hearing Jamie definitely has a connection with Abby…just not one of the love variety. Something they share in common? They’re both hot and troubled! You see, Abby is burdened by the secrets of her past that led her to leave her daughter.

EW‘s Mandi Bierly reports that Persia White has been cast to play Bonnie’s mom, Abby Bennett.

Former Girlfriends star Persia White has been cast as Abby Bennett, the mother who abandoned Bonnie (Kat Graham), on The Vampire Diaries, EW has learned exclusively. She’ll first appear in episode 312 and recur. Abby is described as a beautiful but troubled woman who is burdened by the secrets of her past that led her to leave Bonnie. She’s also “as determined and fiery as any Bennett woman.” Is that code for “she’s also a witch,” or, perhaps, was there a reason we learned in last week’s episode that someone can be either a witch or a vampire but never both?

Awesome news coming from The Hollywood Reporter today! Torrey DeVitto will be joining the cast of The Vampire Diaries for a recurring role.

Paul Wesley and his wife, actressTorrey DeVitto, can start carpooling to work.

The actress, who has a recurring role on ABC Family’s Pretty Little Liars, has been tapped to recur on the CW’s The Vampire DiariesThe Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively.

DeVitto, who married Wesley in April, will play Mary, an intelligent young doctor intrigued by Alaric’s (Matt Davis) powers of recovery on the CW’s vampire drama. She’ll appear in Episodes 310 and 311 with a strong likelihood to continue on afterward.

Zap2It is reporting that Alice Evans has been cast at the Original Mother “Esther”:

Big news, “Vampire Diaries” fans — we’ve got another Original on the way! Zap2it has confirmed that Alice Evans is set to star as Esther, the mother of Klaus, Elijah, Rebekah… and more original vampires, yet to be seen.

Esther will first be seen in flashbacks (as in, way, way back) in Episode 308. As fans of the series know, this fierce mama vamp had a scandalous dalliance with a werewolf, which resulted in our pal Klaus (Joseph Morgan) ultimately becoming the first hybrid werewolf-vampire.

Evans, who is married to The CW’s “Ringer” starIoan Gruffudd, played young Eloise Hawking on “Lost” and had a memorable moment on “Curb Your Enthusiasm” as Heather Mills.

I had read a casting side a few days ago, but thanks to TV Guide Mega Buzz for getting confirmation! The Vampire Diaries is now casting the Original mother named “Esther”.

What’s coming up for the Originals on Vampire Diaries? — Thomas

NATALIE: Very soon we’ll meet Esther, the mother of the Original family, via 1,000-plus-year-old flashbacks. She’s as strong and as fierce as Klaus, but she’s more into protecting her family than packing them away in coffins.

And here is the actual excerpt from the casting side:

[ESTHER] – early to mid 40′s, The MOTHER of the Original family, as seen in flashbacks set over a thousand years ago. Beautiful, strong, fierce. Old World. A lioness protecting her cubs.

It was also mentioned the role is guest starring, possibly recurring and they are looking for someone with an English or Australian accent. I can not wait to see who has been cast for this. If you have any suggestions, I’d love to hear them!

Via EW:

Sebastian Roche, whose character Balthazar was last seen stabbed by Castiel in theSupernatural season finale, has been booked as a recurring guest star on the new season of The CW’s The Vampire Diaries.

Executive producer Julie Plec tells EW Roche will play “a very mysterious man who appears to be hunting vampires, most specifically Klaus.” Mysterious indeed. As Plec explains, “For some reason, Klaus, who shouldn’t be afraid of anybody, seems to be concerned about this person.” The character was originally to be named Eric, but since the show is also introducing a character in season 3 named Bill (Heroes‘ Jack Coleman), the name of Roche’s character will be changing. “To protect from accidental True Blood comparisons,” Plec laughs. (For the record, on TVD, “Bill” will be a former Mystic Falls resident who returns to point out all the failings of the current Council’s attempts to keep vampires out-of-town.)

Zap2It is reporting that actress, Claire Holt has been cast as “Bex”, an ex-girlfriend from Stefan’s past. Check out the deets!

“Vampire Diaries” fans, if you thought Katherine was ten kinds of trouble, get ready to meet Rebecca — AKA Bex, a beautiful vampire who had the pleasure of Stefan’s company back in the early days when he was feasting on human blood.

Holt can currently be seen on ABC Family’s “Pretty Little Liars” as Samara, Emily’s new girlfriend (though we don’t think those two have updated their Facebook statuses quite yet), and is known to Australian audiences for her work as Emma on “H20: Just Add Water.” A few of you may recognize her from “Mean Girls 2,” in which she played the not-particularly-bright Chastity, one of the Plastics.

She caught the eye of “Vampire Diaries” executive producer Kevin Williamson while he was casting for his new series, “The Secret Circle.”

On “The Vampire Diaries,” we’ll first meet Bex in flashbacks. She’s not going to be just a memory for long, though — she’s never quite moved on from Stefan, and you may be particularly surprised to find out what brings her back into his life.

TV Line‘s Ausiello has some Vampire Diaries Season 3 scoop regarding a new character to coming to Mystic Falls.

Question: Do you have any new Vampire Diaries scoop? —Samantha

Ausiello: Buffy the Vampire Slayer is set to guest on the show!!!! Well, OK, not so much Buffy. But a vampire slayer, at least. The incoming character, named Eric (a nod to True Blood’s sexiest fanger?), is a middle-aged hottie who, from what I hear, is sorta like Indiana Jones with a stake instead of a whip. In possibly related news, check out what EP Julie Plec told us at Comic-Con when asked her if there were plans to introduce a baddie bigger than Klaus this season. “I would definitely say that Klaus isn’t the worst baddie that we’ve seen so far. It will be fun to see who’s going to steal his thunder eventually as we get deep into Season 3.” Hmm…

TV Line has some exclusive scoop on a new casting. 7th Heaven’s (and most recently in Super 8 ) David Gallagher has been cast as Ray Sutton, a werewolf that will cross paths with Klaus.

Best known by TV fans for his run as 7th Heaven‘s Simon, Gallagher will appear on the first two episodes of the CW hit’s new season, TVLine has learned. Playing werewolf Ray Sutton, he will have a grim run-in (a howlingly bad time?) with Klaus in Tennessee.

Keep an eye out for David when the show returns for the season 3 premiere, September 15th on the CW at 8/7c.

The Vampire Diaries has found it’s “Greta”. Zap2It reports that American Idol alum, Lisa Tucker, has been cast in the role. Here are the deets!

Zap2It has officially confirmed that Greta will be played by Lisa Tucker, who “American Idol” fans may recognize from Season 5. The now 21-year-old singer/actress was only 16 at the time when she sang “One Moment In Time” for her audition, and got through to the Top 10.

You may also recognize her guest appearance on “The O.C.’s” prom episode, in which the Orange County native played herself. Taylor Townsend was a big fan.

Greta is described as “cool, hip, smart,” and “a bit of a thrill-seeker.”
