EW‘s Mandi Bierly reports that Persia White has been cast to play Bonnie’s mom, Abby Bennett.
Former Girlfriends star Persia White has been cast as Abby Bennett, the mother who abandoned Bonnie (Kat Graham), on The Vampire Diaries, EW has learned exclusively. She’ll first appear in episode 312 and recur. Abby is described as a beautiful but troubled woman who is burdened by the secrets of her past that led her to leave Bonnie. She’s also “as determined and fiery as any Bennett woman.” Is that code for “she’s also a witch,” or, perhaps, was there a reason we learned in last week’s episode that someone can be either a witch or a vampire but never both?
I can’t believe that they finally decided to show us someone from Bonnie’s side of the family, hope they don’t kill her off and never mention her again until she appears as a ghost 2 seasons later like they did with Bonnie’s grandma Sheila!

Omg…this is amazing!! I haven’t seen Persia in a minute. I want to learn more about the Bennett family and I hope she us a vampire that would be very interesting to know how Bonnie already feels about vampires and having her mom be one. Can’t wait for Jan 5 it gonna be bananas!

She looks pretty young to be Bonnie’s mother. And Rebekah was saying that you can’t be a witch AND a vampire. Wonder if she keeps herself young like Gloria did, or if she abandoned Bonnie because she turned into a vampire. If she’s a vampire, I’m pretty sure we will find out it’s someone we already know.

She’s just a very young looking 39 year old, so technically she is old enough to be Bonnie’s mom, and Kat Graham’s for that matter. :)
