What the heck? Jasmine Guy has been cast as Bonnie’s grandmother in episode 4 “Grams”. Other than the fact that I am feeling super old right now I think she’ll be perfect…

Here’s a scoop that will just make you feel old. Jasmine Guy, who played prissy Southern belle Whitley on the ’80s Cosby Show spin-off A Different World, has been cast on The CW’s Vampire Diaries…as a grandmother!!! That’s right. Jasmine, who’s only 47, will be debut in the fourth episode as ‘Grams’ (as in Grannie!!) to the Bonnie (Katerina Graham) character.
“It’s a timeless role,” explains series executive producer Kevin Williamson. “She looks so young because she’s a witch! She’s a college professor at the local university who teaches the occult. Bonnie starts to think she may be a witch, and it turns out they have a lineage of witches in their family dating back to Salem. Bonnie thinks it’s all crazy until she starts doing things like lighting fires.”
Jasmine lives in Atlanta where the series shoots – which made her casting both convenient and affordable. Any chance we can get Dwayne Wayne in this show somewhere?
