Thanks to Vampire Diaries Source for the heads up on this feature from Women’s Wear Daily. Paul Wesley discusses acting and The Vampire Diaries. Thanks to Lovely Sucks for posting the entire article and photoshoot. You can view the rest of the shots and article over at their site.

Wesley has been financially independent since his teens (he got his first apartment in the West Village when he was 16) and, since a long-running gig on “Guiding Light,” has had recurring roles on “Fallen,” “Everwood” and most recently “24.” But “Vampire Diaries” arguably marks his most in-depth experience to date.

“Season one was incredibly taxing on me because I got a little too almost method and it got a little bit intense for me as far as affecting my personal being,” says Wesley (though obviously not literally method considering his character’s proclivities). “I’ve made a very conscientious decision to try not to take home what I do at work, which I was not really capable of at first. But I realized, this is a marathon, not a sprint, so I’m preparing myself for the long run.”

HUGE thanks to Jarett of New York Post’s PopWrap. Not only did he list The Vampire Diaries in his 2010 Best Television as his number one choice, he gives an amazing shout out to the fans of the show. Thank you so much Jarett! We love you too for all your wonderful Vampire Diaries scoop and amazing support of the fandom!

Scoff if you will, but for my money, no show on television has better pacing, plots or performances than The CW’s “Vampire Diaries.” There is never a dull moment in this mythological smorgasbord — which achieves the near impossible task of seamlessly crafting a series that is at once a comedy, a thriller, a drama and a character piece.

The world Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec created is lush, rich and filled with amazing personalities — characters that are in good hands with the excellent actors who have assembled to bring this tale to life (Ian Somerhalder is particularly exceptional as the ultimate bad boy with a heart of gold).

But what “Vampire Diaries” has done better than any other show currently on television is foster a fervent fan community that feverishly — and publicly — count down the minutes to the next new episode. And that, my friends, is the rarest occurrence of all.
Best Episode: “The Return”

In support of the Ian Somerhalder Foundation and St. Tammany Humane Society, my good friends Romancia and Marilyn have teamed up to create this awesome site GenerationExtinction.com. If you are wondering, “Where have I heard that before? Generation Extinction…” Well, the phrase was coined by Ian in article from Zap2It in this quote:

There’s Generation X. There’s Generation Y. This generation is Generation Extinction. This generation holds that in their hands – the responsibility of it, and the power to change it. They have the ability to make the changes for themselves and for their environment. It’s pretty badass, if you think about how much they can do.”

And speaking of badass, check out these awesome T-shirts that Romancia designed herself. They are currently taking pre-orders and all the proceeds will go to benefit IS Foundation and it’s current benefactor St. Tammany Humane Society. And Vampire Diaries Online is currently partnering with GenerationExtinction.com to help promote their cause. So I really hope you guys will head on over and pre-order one of these one-of-a-kind T-Shirts. Such a great cause and a great message. Defenders & Warriors lined up and ready! (Click to Enlarge)

Entertainment Weekly spoke with Julie Plec recently where she talks about why they are not taking lightly the task of finding the right actor to play the infamous Klaus.

Fans have been more than happy to offer their picks online. “We like the people on Twitter who are like ‘Alexander Skarsgard has to be Klaus!’ I’m like really? ‘Cause that’s original,” Plec says, laughing. They’re willing to think outside the box. “The big important elements of this character are charisma and gravitas. You’ve got to be able to be afraid of this guy, whether you’re afraid of him because he looks scary or because he’s so charming that the fact that he can snap your neck with his pinky would take you by surprise. So whether he’s an Old Word-flavored guy or new hip, contemporary, speedy kinda guy, that remains to be seen. We’ll see what actor we connect to the most.” The character will make his appearance by season’s end, Plec says.

Q: What is next for you professionally?

A: I have a movie coming out [in February] called “The Roommate,” and it is really cool. Then I have “Honey 2″ coming out after that. Then there is “Vampire Diaries” and the CD, so I am keeping myself busy. I am hoping to do some traveling and meet more of my fans. I like to do a luncheon in the places I perform for those who aren’t 21 and can’t get into the club venues. I am trying to get an early flight to Connecticut so I can have one on Friday.
