Thanks to Vampire Diaries Source for the heads up on this feature from Women’s Wear Daily. Paul Wesley discusses acting and The Vampire Diaries. Thanks to Lovely Sucks for posting the entire article and photoshoot. You can view the rest of the shots and article over at their site.

Wesley has been financially independent since his teens (he got his first apartment in the West Village when he was 16) and, since a long-running gig on “Guiding Light,” has had recurring roles on “Fallen,” “Everwood” and most recently “24.” But “Vampire Diaries” arguably marks his most in-depth experience to date.

“Season one was incredibly taxing on me because I got a little too almost method and it got a little bit intense for me as far as affecting my personal being,” says Wesley (though obviously not literally method considering his character’s proclivities). “I’ve made a very conscientious decision to try not to take home what I do at work, which I was not really capable of at first. But I realized, this is a marathon, not a sprint, so I’m preparing myself for the long run.”

HUGE thanks to Jarett of New York Post’s PopWrap. Not only did he list The Vampire Diaries in his 2010 Best Television as his number one choice, he gives an amazing shout out to the fans of the show. Thank you so much Jarett! We love you too for all your wonderful Vampire Diaries scoop and amazing support of the fandom!

Scoff if you will, but for my money, no show on television has better pacing, plots or performances than The CW’s “Vampire Diaries.” There is never a dull moment in this mythological smorgasbord — which achieves the near impossible task of seamlessly crafting a series that is at once a comedy, a thriller, a drama and a character piece.

The world Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec created is lush, rich and filled with amazing personalities — characters that are in good hands with the excellent actors who have assembled to bring this tale to life (Ian Somerhalder is particularly exceptional as the ultimate bad boy with a heart of gold).

But what “Vampire Diaries” has done better than any other show currently on television is foster a fervent fan community that feverishly — and publicly — count down the minutes to the next new episode. And that, my friends, is the rarest occurrence of all.
Best Episode: “The Return”

In support of the Ian Somerhalder Foundation and St. Tammany Humane Society, my good friends Romancia and Marilyn have teamed up to create this awesome site GenerationExtinction.com. If you are wondering, “Where have I heard that before? Generation Extinction…” Well, the phrase was coined by Ian in article from Zap2It in this quote:

There’s Generation X. There’s Generation Y. This generation is Generation Extinction. This generation holds that in their hands – the responsibility of it, and the power to change it. They have the ability to make the changes for themselves and for their environment. It’s pretty badass, if you think about how much they can do.”

And speaking of badass, check out these awesome T-shirts that Romancia designed herself. They are currently taking pre-orders and all the proceeds will go to benefit IS Foundation and it’s current benefactor St. Tammany Humane Society. And Vampire Diaries Online is currently partnering with GenerationExtinction.com to help promote their cause. So I really hope you guys will head on over and pre-order one of these one-of-a-kind T-Shirts. Such a great cause and a great message. Defenders & Warriors lined up and ready! (Click to Enlarge)

Entertainment Weekly spoke with Julie Plec recently where she talks about why they are not taking lightly the task of finding the right actor to play the infamous Klaus.

Fans have been more than happy to offer their picks online. “We like the people on Twitter who are like ‘Alexander Skarsgard has to be Klaus!’ I’m like really? ‘Cause that’s original,” Plec says, laughing. They’re willing to think outside the box. “The big important elements of this character are charisma and gravitas. You’ve got to be able to be afraid of this guy, whether you’re afraid of him because he looks scary or because he’s so charming that the fact that he can snap your neck with his pinky would take you by surprise. So whether he’s an Old Word-flavored guy or new hip, contemporary, speedy kinda guy, that remains to be seen. We’ll see what actor we connect to the most.” The character will make his appearance by season’s end, Plec says.

Q: What is next for you professionally?

A: I have a movie coming out [in February] called “The Roommate,” and it is really cool. Then I have “Honey 2″ coming out after that. Then there is “Vampire Diaries” and the CD, so I am keeping myself busy. I am hoping to do some traveling and meet more of my fans. I like to do a luncheon in the places I perform for those who aren’t 21 and can’t get into the club venues. I am trying to get an early flight to Connecticut so I can have one on Friday.

Nina Dobrev covers Flare Magazine’s February 2011 Issue. Check out this gorgeous outtake and sneak peek of the feature inside, where Nina talks about her most memorable day and best date. Thanks to @NinaDobrevSRB for the heads up on Twitter!

Her most memorable day:

“There have been so many, but most recently, being part of The Emmys was pretty incredible. I documented every moment from the recording of the Bruce Springsteen track “Born To Be” to the rehearsals with Jimmy Fallon, Tina Fey, and Jane Lynch (to name a few) to the on stage performance/dance we all did on Emmy night. It was so exhilarating and fun.”

The best date:

“It’s a toss up between two: “[In the first], I was supposed to have a date with someone, and at the last minute I had to fly to another city for business. Not only was he extremely understanding of the whole situation, but he surprised me by flying to meet me for dinner later that night. I was shocked at how far (literally) he would go to surprise, and spend time with me. It was very romantic. [In the second], after a long, extremely exhausting, and emotionally draining day on set, I got back home to find my boyfriend in the kitchen making me dinner. He handed me a glass of wine and walked me into the living room where there was a massage table set up. He said ‘You’ve had a rough day, I have a masseuse coming to the house in a few minutes and after you’re finished with your massage dinner will be ready.’ I almost died. That is what I call romantic and thoughtful.”

Sara Canning Interview With TV Guide

December 27th, 2010 | Posted by Ruthie in Interviews | Sara Canning | Videos - (Comments Off)

Right before Christmas, TV Guide sent us a video interview with Sara Canning. Here, Sara discusses how she is looking forward to what Jenna is capable of, that infamous stabbing scene, and how she is looking forward to doing some stunt scenes eventually.

Huge thanks to Kat Graham for reaching out to the fans yesterday via Ustream! Find out Kat’s favorite things she loves to do at Christmas.

Please head on over to E!Online to vote for The Vampire Diaries in the Best TV Show of 2010 poll. It is currently losing to Castle and we can’t let this happen. Voting closes December 28th, 2010 at 11AM PST. So VOTE! Multiple voting IS allowed…so vote, refresh, rinse and repeat. GO!

TV Guide‘s Natalie Abrams has a smidgen of Vampire Diaries Scoop for us in the latest Mega Buzz:

When will we get more backstory on The Vampire Diaries— Maxine

NATALIE: An upcoming flashback to 1864 will give Elena a new perspective on her sibling suitors. Before then, though, expect a visit or two from the Grim Reaper. “A lot of people are dying,”Katerina Graham tells us. “Not, like, too many, where it’s like, ‘Why are all these people dying?’ But a couple of important characters are going to go.”

And TV Fanatic has released part one of their exclusive interview with executive producer Julie Plec. Lots of goodies on werewolves, Klaus and shirtless boys!

Is there a clause in Ian Somerhalder’s contract about appearing shirtless a certain number of times per month?

(Laughs.) No. It’s funny, we had a little bit of a drought of our shirtless boys this season, because we only put them shirtless when it feels right for the story. But I looked at Kevin and I was like, “everybody’s had too many clothes on for the last 6 or 7 episodes. This is wrong. So we’ll be seeing more bare-chested boys as we go into the New Year. All totally organic to the story, as always, of course (laughs).

Do you have any idea who will play Klaus?

None whatsoever. We started the casting process, we’re early in it. We have high standards, and high hopes. It’s going to be very tough to not only hold their own against Ian and Paul, but also Daniel Gillies [Elijah], who a pretty tremendous actor. We’re taking the casting very seriously and it’ll be interesting to see how it turns out.
